About Us

 Who We Are

James R. Walker (below) is a professor and chair in the Department of Communication at Saint Xavier University in Chicago.  He has co-authored three books on the television industry and has published more than 30 articles on mass communication and television in the United States.  He is a Chicago rarity, rooting for both the Cubs and White Sox.  However, he devotes very little time to worrying about who he will support if the two Chicago teams ever meet in the World Series.

Robert V. Bellamy, Jr., (above) is a member of the NINE: A Journal of Baseball History and Culture editorial board, and an associate professor of media communication at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.  Among the courses he teaches are “Media and Sports,”  “International Communication,” and “Mass Media and Society.”  His patience in waiting for the Pirates to end their long streak of losing seasons probably would be exhausted, if not for the delights of PNC Park.
